Matthew 16:13-23

Hi Folks,

This week my message will focus on the topic of hypocrisy, under the title Be Real.  It's amazing, almost in the same breath Peter went from acknowledging Jesus as the promised Messiah to becoming a potential interference in the greater plan of God.  Peter stated that Jesus was "the Messiah, the Son of the Living God."  Jesus commended Peter for his statement of faith and claimed that God Himself revealed it to Peter.  But when Jesus discussed intimately with Peter and the other disciples that He would be put to death and in three days be raised from the dead, Peter stepped in with a heart full of pride and claimed that he would not allow such a thing to happen to Jesus.

Sometimes hypocrisy can be disguised by our own good intentions.  But the human heart may not always be right in good intentions, therefore the motive needs to be examined.  What might have been the real motive behind Peter's claim to be the champion and protector of Jesus?  Come Sunday morning, October 21, 10:30 a.m., to hear the rest of the story.

Blessings,

-Leo
